I have Googled and FTH search myself to death looking for a doc or pdf of the available website and email variables. Where can I find those?

Look at the webpage tools (just above the icon bar in the editor). I’m not sure what you mean by email variables?

I found the pick list of variables. The "New Member" email uses, for example, {{firstname}} to personalize the introductory email to new members. However, I have applied the same concept to email functionality under Club Email Addresses in the Admin portal, but the system is not mapping the variables into the email.

Second, is there a full list of these system variables and where they can be used? They could be pretty handy for customizing emails, etc. especially when different members log in to send emails and they don't have to edit templates.

Variables in emails are only supported in emails generated from your website at this time.

You will need to refer to the information panels for what variables are supported for each function. There really is not one master list, nor will there be ... different variables are appropriate for different functions.

Ok, that is fine. The email variables are in the More panel right below the editor box.

I forgot that I specifically killed those for the case of writing emails from a straight address link.

No you can also use it in Send Basic Email from Membership Management. Also, it is supported in agenda emails.
(in the agenda message, not the agenda itself)

I may add it other places in the future, but I have to make sure it is used properly. (not for spamming non-members)

Thanks. We do send a reminder out to visitors/guests and prospects before each meeting. Having the variables would help us link up names etc.

What variables are provided and where they are provided depends on a review of what is appropriate and not appropriate in each case.

We have a lot of sensitivities and concerns about sending *any* emails to non-members. We support it currently, but there is always some risk of the FTH server getting on spam black lists in the future as a result, which we do not want.

Because of that, I am not going to make any commitments about anything in this functional area.
